Hanoi (VNA) – The Russian Science and Culture Centre in Hanoi has announced Vietnamesereaders can access online books of Russia-based Boris Yeltsin PresidentialLibrary and e-book provider LitRes free of charge at the centre.
Theannouncement was made at an event celebrating World Poetry Day (March 21),which took place in the capital city on March 23.
Speaking atthe event, Minister-Counsellor at the Russian Embassy Vadim VladimirovichBublicov thanked Vietnamese translators for their hard-working and professionalperformance, resulting in the publication of more than 30 classic Russian literaryworks in Vietnamese since 2012.
Of thebooks, Pushkin's Fairy Tales, Ugryum River by Vyacheslav Shishkov, and poetrycollections of S.A. Esenin, Anna Akhmatova and Marina Ivanovna Tsvetaeva werepresented at the event.
Russianbooks introduced to Vietnamese readers have contributed to strengthening thetwo nations’ culture – language connection, the diplomat said.
He said hebelieves the opening of the online book sources for Vietnamese, which contain amassive amount of knowledge on Russian history, language, and relations withother countries, will foster bilateral cooperation and people-to-peoplediplomacy.
Director ofthe Russian Science and Culture Centre Natalia Valerievna Shafinskaya said thefree access to the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library offers an officialinformation channel on Russia to Vietnamese.
As part of theevent, Nguyen Thuy Anh, who won a Russian award for the best translation ofliterary works, hosted a talk show on Russian children books she has translatedthus far.-VNA
