Seoul (VNA) – A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.
In her opening speech on October 20, Chairwoman of the VWA in Gyeonggi Mai Thi Hong Ngoc said that the festival aims to deepen the understanding of Vietnamese and Korean cultures among the two countries' people. Through the Ao dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) show, performances of traditional musical instruments, and folk games, the organisers wish to introduce and remind the Vietnamese community of the traditional cultural traits of their homeland, helping raise their pride and connect them with their roots.
The festival also offers an opportunity for Vietnamese people to gather, promote solidarity, and enhance their cultural and spiritual lives, she added.
Ambassador Vu Ho said the Vietnamese community in RoK is growing, and noted vital contributions of Vietnamese women to advancing the relationship between the two countries. The diplomat expressed his hope for more cultural exchange events to further strengthen people-to-people interactions.
On this occasion, the organisers presented gifts to disadvantaged children of Vietnamese-Korean families./.
