Two Vietnamese boxers, Tran Phu Cuong and Truong Dinh Hoang, secured tickets to the quarter-finals of the 2015 Asian men's boxing championship in Bangkok, Thailand on August 30.
Bantamweight (56 kg) Cuong defeated Pakistan's Nadir Baloch while Hoang bested Arshad Wasseem, also from Pakistan, in the middleweight class (75 kg).
Three other Vietnamese boxers will fight in the preliminary rounds, with Bui Trong Thai (flyweight, 52kg) squaring off against the Philippines' Bautista Ian, Nguyen Van De (light welterweight, 64kg) meeting Turkmenistan's Bebitov Aziz and Vo Van Que (light heavyweight 81kg) facing Bhutan's Norbu Tashi on September 1.
The quarter-finals take place on September 1-2, with the semi-final and final bouts to be held on September 4-5.
The top six boxers in each weight division will qualify to compete in the 2015 World Boxing Championship.-VNA
