Tet gathering held for Vietnamese in New York

The Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN) and the Vietnamese Consulate General in New York co-hosted a gathering on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival on January 27 evening (local time).
New York (VNA) - The Permanent Missionof Vietnam to the United Nations (UN) and the Vietnamese Consulate General inNew York co-hosted a gathering on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festivalon January 27 evening (local time).

Speaking at the event, which saw the participationof more than 500 Vietnamese people, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, PermanentRepresentative of Vietnam to the UN, stressed the importance of the resolutionadopted by the UN General Assembly recognising the Lunar New Year as a UNholiday from 2024.

He briefed the participants on remarkableachievements Vietnam recorded in socio-economic development and foreignaffairs, and lauded contributions by overseas Vietnamese.  

Giang also provided updates on some new policies andlaws at home that support returning OVs, including the amended Land Lawrecently approved by the National Assembly.

The two offices will continue supporting Vietnamese in New York and its adjacent areas,he pledged./.

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.
