Can Tho (VNA) – The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho will host the seventhSouthern Traditional Cake Festival from April 25-29, said the local People’sCommittee on March 7.
Themed “Origin of the homeland cake”, the festival will feature 100 stallsdisplaying a wide range of cakes originated in southern region. Meanwhile, theremaining 100 stalls will showcase staples of other localities across thenation.
According to Le Van Tam, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee and headof the festival’s organising board, the event aims to introduce the south’straditional cuisines to both domestic and foreign visitors.
Activities held within the event include a traditional cake making competitionand performance, a singing contest on southern cuisine and cakes and a conferenceon traditional cake preserving and packaging technology.
Relevant authorities in the city must work to ensure social order, foodsecurity and environmental hygiene, Tam noted.-VNA
