Seoul (VNA) - Lawmakers of the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Vietnamwill have their first friendly football match in Hanoi later this month, YonhapNews Agency reported.
Twenty-five RoK lawmakers, including members of the RoK-Vietnam ParliamentaryFriendship Association, will make a four-day trip to Hanoi, beginning onJanuary 17, to hold various exchange events, the agency quoted officials from theRoK Embassy in Vietnam as saying.
Notably, lawmakers from bothcountries plan to hold a friendly football match at Hang Day Stadium in theVietnamese capital on January 18.
It will be the first time that RoK and Vietnamese lawmakers play footballtogether. It will also be the first time that Vietnamese lawmakers playfootball with their counterparts from other countries.
Embassy officials said the twocountries' friendly relations, attributed largely to the popularity of ParkHang-seo, the RoK head coach of the Vietnamese national football team, appearto be spreading to the political circles.
RoK lawmakers have so far held11 friendly football matches with their Japanese counterparts but have neverengaged in football diplomacy with lawmakers of other countries.-VNA
