Remakes excluded from 2017 Kite Awards’ categories

Vietnamese remakes of foreign films and scripts will not be considered for the Kite Awards – the most prestigious cinematographic awards in the country.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese remakes of foreign filmsand scripts will not be considered for the Kite Awards – the most prestigiouscinematographic awards in the country.

The information was released by Vice President of theVietnam Cinema Association Nguyen Thi Hong Ngat on April 5.

She said the current number of remakes is enormous, and theawards will not accept nominations for the category. However, the awards willhonour individuals involved in making those works, she added.

In addition, the 2017 edition of the annual awards will includetwo more prize categories, which are cameramen of scientific documentaries, andanimators.

A total of four research studies and 117 films have beensubmitted to vie for the awards. The entries include 13 feature films, 16 TVseries, 13 animation films, 34 documentaries, 9 scientific films, and 32 shortfilms.

The award ceremony will take place at the Hanoi Opera Houseon April 20, and will be broadcast live on the Vietnam Television VTV2 channel.

Nominated films will be screened free for the public at theAugust Cinema, National Cinema Centre, and Studio for Documentary &Scientific Film in Hanoi from April 9 to 13, with invitations given away atthese places starting April 6.

On the occasion, the Kite Awards organising board also runsa conference to review the creation of films and series last year at theheadquarters of the Vietnam Cinema Association (No 51 Tran Hung Dao Street) onApril 9.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange
