Painting exhibition celebrates Women’s Day

An exhibition of paintings by female members of the Tranh Viet Club opened in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the 87th anniversary of Vietnamese Women’s Day on October 20.

HCM City (VNA) - Anexhibition of paintings by female members of the Tranh Viet Club opened in Ho ChiMinh City to celebrate the 87th anniversaryof Vietnamese Women’s Day on October 20.      

Tu Mua Thu Ay (From the Autumn) displays 63 oil andlacquer works and its underlying theme is “women is the world”.

All paintings were selected fromthe artists’ latest collections of landscapes, daily life and ethnic minoritywomen and children in different places and remote areas across the country.

“Female artists of Tranh VietClub highlight the beauty of Vietnamese women in their art. Their showcase, Tu Mua Thu Ay, will capture the hearts ofviewers, particularly males,” said Pham Huy Hoang, a final-year student at theHCM City University of Architecture, at the event’s opening ceremony lastnight.   

Hoang’s favourite work is Gai Que (Rural Woman), an oil paintingin pink and black by artist Kim Dung.

“GaiQue is lively. The artist portrays a woman in traditional clothessitting with baskets of fresh lotuses. I can smell the beautiful flowers,” hesaid.  

Established in 2005, the TranhViet Club organises painting exhibitions and artistic activities to help itsmembers share their art.

The exhibition is on display atthe HCM City Labour Palace, 55B Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 3. Itwill close on October 23. Entrance is free.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day
