Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 305 badmintonplayers from 16 countries are expected to compete in theCiputra Hanoi-Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge 2017, the organiserssaid on March 10.
The annual event, which will be heldfrom March 21-26 at Hanoi’s Cau Giay Gymnasium, will have five categories,namely men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles,with total prize of 20,000 USD.
Vietnam’s top badminton players NguyenTien Minh and Vu Thi Trang will participate in the tournament, along withregional athletes such as Khosit Phetpradab and Pornpawee Chochuwong fromThailand.
Bui Tuan Mich, Vice President of theHanoi Badminton Federation and Head of the organising board, said that theevent will provide an opportunity for athletes to sharpen their skills andexperience, thus contributing to the development of badminton in Vietnam. Italso aims to promote images of the country to international friends.-VNA
