Hanoi (VNA) – More than 400 works of art will be displayed at the Vietnam Fine Arts Exhibition, which is scheduled to take place at the Viet Nam Centre for Culture and Arts in Hanoi from December 9 to 23.
The announcement was made on December 7 by Vi Kien Thanh, Head of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions (DFAPE) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The works were selected from 4,076 entries sent by artists nationwide as part of a contest launched in March this year. The exhibits are in different forms such as paintings, sculptures and performance art to graphic design, video art and installation art.
Original artwork must have been produced between 2011 and 2015 by artists 18 and older, featuring the daily life of Vietnamese people, especially in building and safeguarding the country.
Aside from the selected entries, the exhibition will also display 13 works ordered by the Government on Vietnam’s two resistance wars from 1930-1975.
Four seminars on concerns related to the artists and public’s interests will also be organised during the exhibition.
The event’s opening ceremony will see art delegations from Laos and Cambodia.
