The event, which is expected to draw 2,000participants, aims to encourage support from local people for the regionalsport games while raising public awareness of the healthy lifestyle and fostersolidarity between ASEAN countries, the Vietnam Sports Administration said at apress conference in Hanoi on April 4.
The race will start and finish at Ly Thai ToFlower Garden. It consists of three stages, passing various iconic locations inthe capital city including Hanoi Opera House.
It will see the participation of representativesfrom Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and ASEAN embassies inHanoi as well as officials of the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports, alongwith Vietnamese outstanding athletes and Hanoi residents.
Hanoi is the sixth destination of the relayafter Brunei, the Philippines, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand. The race willcontinue in Timor Leste, Cambodia, Indonesia and Singapore before transferringto the host Malaysia in May.
SEA Games 29 will be organised in Malaysia fromAugust 19-31 while Para Games 9 will take place from September 17-23.-VNA
