Hanoi (VNA) - Designers from lesser-known fashionindustries such as Haiti, Turkey and Colombia will participate in the VietnamInternational Fashion Week (VIFW) – Fall/Winter 2018, which is schedule to takeplace in Hanoi from October 25 to 27.
More than 10 talented Vietnamese designers and emergingbrands will also unveil their collections at Vietnam’s biggest internationalfashion event.
President of the VIFW Le Thi Quynh Trang said that the week,which has been held seven times, has proved Vietnam’s ability to integrate intothe flow of global fashion.
“The event has not only opened the door to the world’sfashion industry, but has also made Vietnam’s dream of becoming a developingfashion industry come true,” she said.
Among the foreign designers, Haitian designer Jovana Benoit –creator of the brand Jovana Louis – said she would unveil her collectioninspired by Vietnamese culture and its people.
“Since I’ve moved here with my husband, I have regarded thisAsian country as my second home. I’ve got a lot of inspiration for my creationshere. My brand is a mix of Vietnamese, French and Haitian.
I can’t wait to show them to the Vietnamese people,” she said.
Turkish Ambassador to Vietnam Akif Ayhan, who also attendedthe recent press conference on the VIFW, said he was impressed by theprofessionalism of the organisers as well as the scale of the VIFW, which hehad chance to attend twice in both Hanoi and HCM City.
“Having witnessed their professionalism, I’ve decided to getinvolved in the VIFW by introducing a leading Turkish designer to this fashionevent,” he said.
The VIFW will showcase creations by Turkish designer MehmetKoymen and Columbian designer Jorge Duque Veslez.
The VIFW will also feature collections created by the topfive students of the Hanoi-based London College for Design & Fashion.
Among them, Park Su-yon, a woman from the Democratic People’sRepublic of Korea (DPRK), will introduce her collection Unity which wasinspired by this year’s Winter Olympics, where the DPRK and the Republic of Koreacompeted in several sport games as a team under one Korean flag for the firsttime in 18 years.
Famous HCM City-based designers Lam Gia Khang and Nguyen TienTruyen will treat the VIFW audience with their latest collections.
A lineup of several other Vietnamese brands will also attendthe week include Owen by Hoang Minh Ha, Emspo, Viet Tien, Veston Ngoc Lan,Butuni, Happy Clothing and Ruby’s Midu.
The Vietnam International Fashion Week – Fall/Winter 2018will take place at the My Dinh National Convention Centre.-VNA
