Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam won two moregold medals at the ongoing fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG2017) in Turkmenistan on September 19.
Weightlifter Trinh Van Vinh set a record at theAIMAG 2017 and secured a gold medal for Vietnam with a total lift of 302kg inthe men’s 62kg category.
Nguyen Tien Trong won a gold in the men’s longjump with a jump of 7.48 metres.
The same day, runner Le Tu Chinh pocketed asilver in the women’s 60 metre event with 7.36 seconds, and Nguyen Thi Hangalso won a silver in the women’s 400 metre event with 54.41 seconds. Goldmedals in both events went to athletes from Kazakhstan.
In jujitsu, Dao Le Thu Trang also bagged asilver in the women’s 45kg category.
At the end of September 19, Vietnam had threegold, five silver, six bronze medals, ranking seventh in the tally.
Host country Turkmenistan topped the medal tallywith 41 golds, 27 silvers and 18 bronzes.
AIMAG 2017 attracts athletes from 65 countriesand territories, including some in the Oceania.
Vietnam sent a 164-member delegation to theevent. Vietnamese athletes compete in 14 of the 21 sports of the Games with theaim of winning eight gold medals. -VNA
