Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese wrestler Vu Thi Hang secured a berth to compete at the coming Olympics in Brazil.
Hang won a silver medal in the women’s 48kg category at the Asian Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament in Kazakhstan on March 20.
She lost 2-3 to Zhuldyz Eshimova of the host country in the final match.
Hang, who had won a gold medal at the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar in 2013, began her journey at the Kazakhstan tournament with a great win.
She defeated the Republic of Korea’s Lee Yu-mi 10-3 in the quarter-final round. Then she beat So Sim-hyang of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea 3-2 in the semi-final match.
Hang is the second Vietnamese wrestler to secure an Olympic berth, after her senior Nguyen Thi Lua secured a berth in the women’s 53kg pool a day earlier.
Vietnam have secured nine Olympic berths so far.
There are three slots in weightlifting, two in shooting and one each in wrestling, swimming and athletics.-VNA
