WEF ASEAN 2018: Gala night to highlight Vietnamese culture

A gala night featuring Vietnamese culture will take place in Hanoi on the night of September 12 during a banquet for delegates to the World Economic Forum on ASEAN 2018 (WEF ASEAN).
Hanoi (VNA) – A gala night featuring Vietnamese culture will takeplace in Hanoi on the night of September 12 during a banquet for delegates to theWorld Economic Forum on ASEAN 2018 (WEF ASEAN).

At present, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Culture is urgently completed the last preparations for the programme, which aims to promote Vietnamese identities to the WEF ASEANparticipants.

The event, themed “the beauty of Vietnam”, will also reflect Vietnam’sintensive and extensive international integration as well as its active andproactive preparation for and participation in the fourth Industrial Revolution(Industry 4.0).

The gala night will include three parts. The first part, “Vietnam – My homeland”,will feature special art forms of the three regions of the country, includingUNESCO-recognised Nha nhac (Hue royal court music) and quan ho (love duet)singing.

World-renowned Vietnamese artists will devote opera and jazz performances inthe second part, entitled “Integration”, which aims to affirm the talent of Vietnamesepeople during the international cultural integration.

Meanwhile, the last one will feature songs and dances of countries in the ASEANCommunity. Regional artists will perform together to reflect a united, creativeand prosperous ASEAN.

The WEF ASEAN 2018, themed “ASEAN 4.0: Entrepreneurship and the FourthIndustrial Revolution”, is taking place in Hanoi from September 11-13.

The event is not only an important diplomaticactivity of Vietnam in 2018 but also a chance for the country to promote itsland, people and culture to international friends.

It attracts more than 1,000 delegates, including six presidentsand prime ministers, who will focus their discussions on five key topics, namely defining new ASEANvision on regional integration; seeking new business models and businessgovernance in digital age; seeking new driving forces and business models forASEAN states in industry 4.0; enterprises and new approaches to global andregional leadership; and smart infrastructure development, capacity training,startups, innovations in industry 4.0.

In 2010, Vietnam hosted the WorldEconomic Forum on East Asia for the first time and over the past eight years,Vietnam has obtained remarkable economic achievements, including the GDP percapita rising from 1,160 USD in 2010 to 2,385 USD in 2017.

The WEF was established in 1971 as anon-profit foundation and is headquartered in Geneva. The forum engagespolitical, business, and other leaders to shape global, regional, and industryagendas.

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

More than 70,000 women from across the capital city of Hanoi dressed up in Ao dai (traditional long dress) and participated in a folk dance ensemble on October 20 to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi and the 94th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union.

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
