VN pencak silat team rank second in ASEAN

The Vietnamese team ranked second in the medal tally at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Pencak Silat Championships which wrapped up in Malaysia on March 19.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnamese team ranked second in the medaltally at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Pencak Silat Championships which wrapped upin Malaysia on March 19.

The team brought home five golds, five silversand seven bronzes, out of which Hanoian martial artists contributed four golds,two silvers and one bronze.

Vietnam sent13 players to compete in the combat and performance category of the tournament, which saw the hoststopping the rankings.

The event, which drew the participation of ninecountries including Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia, was a warm-up for martialartists heading to the SEAGames to be held in Malaysia inAugust.

In other news, Hanoian jujitsu martialartists won two bronze medals at the World Junior Jujitsu Championships inGreece that also concluded on March19.

Jujjtsu is a type of kung fu which will be onshow at the upcoming Asian Martial Arts Games 2017 and Asian Games next year inIndonesia.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day
