The tournament, whichkicked off in Hue city in the central Thua Thien-Hue province on June8, is part of the Football Association of Norway (NFF)-fundedprogramme “Football for All in Vietnam” to promote football in thecommunity.
About 200 volunteers are also availablein the event to assist children footballers during the tournament, whichincludes over 1,100 matches.
Besides playingfootball, the participating children will learn life skills, involve incultural exchanges and take part in city tours to explore history andpeople of Hue.
The tournament will run until June 11.
The“Football for All” project, jointly initiated by the Vietnam FootballAssociation and the Football Association of Norway in 1997, was launchedin 2000.
It started in Hanoi in 2001 before spreading to central Thua Thien-Hue province in 2003.
As a result, 147 football clubs have been established, involving more than 16,000 young football players.-VNA
