Hanoi (VNA) – Spokesperson for theMinistry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang on July 12 confirmed a Vietnamesecitizen, named Tran Viet Van, was killed in the Philippines military’s attackson the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the familyof Tran Viet Van,” Hang said, expressing her hope that the bereaved will soonovercome this huge loss to stabilise life.

The Embassy of Vietnam in the Philippines iscoordinating with relevant agencies at home and in the host country to completeforensic and legal procedures and support the victim’s family with funeralservice, she added.
Vietnam’sMinistry of Foreign Affairs on July 11 summoned the Chargé d' affaires of theEmbassy of the Philippines in Vietnam asking the Philippines to quickly addressthe capture of Vietnamese citizens in the country and ensure safety for them.-VN
