Vietnam’s flower Buddha statue sets world record

A Bodhisattva statue made of Bat Tu flowers in Linh Phuoc Pagoda, the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, has been named the world’s biggest Buddha statue by the Worldkings.

Lam Dong (VNA) – A Bodhisattva statue made ofBat Tu flowers (scientifically known as Xerochrysum bracteatum) in LinhPhuoc Pagoda, the CentralHighlands province of Lam Dong, has been named the world’s biggest Buddhastatue by the World Records Union (Worldkings).

The Vietnam Book of Records (Vietkings) presented the record certificate on behalf of Worldkings to Linh Phuoc pagoda on December 17.

At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Tam Vi, Headof Linh Phuoc Pagoda said, the statue, 17 metres high, was build with around650,000 flowers during 36 dayson the occasion of the Da Lat Flower Festival 2010. It stands in front of a seven-storey bell tower.

The statue, which earned a Vietnamese recordin 2010 and an Asian record in 2012, has been re-made every two years.

Linh Phuoc pagoda boasts 13 Vietnamese records, one of Asia, and one world title.

They are expected to contribute to introducing Vietnamese Buddhism tointernational friends, particularly during the upcoming Da Lat Flower Festival2017.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day
