Hanoi (VNA) – Nearly 300 artifacts dating back centuries ago are ondisplay at the Vietnam National Museum of History from April 12.
The event, themed “Vietnam’s archaeological treasures” aims to introduceachievements of Vietnamese archaeologists in the past six decades as well asthe archaeological achievements in the cooperation between Vietnam and Germany.
The exhibition takes visitors back to three different periods in history. Theprehistoric artifacts displaying zone showcases tools, stone jewelry andpottery items discovered in different sites across the country.
Meanwhile, outstanding archaeological items, featuring Dong Son culture in thenorth, Sa Huynh in the central region and Dong Nai culture in the south, areexhibited at the Metal Age zone. Most of the displayed artifacts were made fromiron, stone, glass, wood and bronze. Some of them were found in tombs such asmodels and terracotta stoves discovered in the northern province of Bac Ninhand Thanh Hoa.
Also on display are antiques from the Champa Kingdom (192-1471) and My SonWorld Cultural Heritage, Oc Eo- Phu Nam Culture in the Mekong Delta region fromthe 1st to the 7th century, a well as the contact and exchangeof Vietnam with the Occident, anti-war movements in Vietnam and images ofVietnam in innovation and integration.
The exhibition will run until July, 2018.
The archeological collection was displayed at three German museums from October2016 to February 2018 as part of a programme promoting Vietnamese culture andhistory in the European country.
The event drew the participation of over 100,000 visitors.-VNA
