Vietnamese women retain lead at Asian Nations Cup chess event

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese women gave beaten hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE) 4-0 in the Asian Nations Cup Chess Team Championship’s fourth match at the Novotel Abu Dhabi Al Bustan Hotel.

Hoang Thi Bao Tram, who has an Elo rating of 2283, defeated Saleh Nora Mohd, with an Elo rating of 1920. Nguyen Thi Mai Hung, with Elo of 2282, crushed Al-Zarouni Kholoud Essa, with Elo of 1861. Hoang Thi Nhu Y, with Elo of 2247, beat Abeer Ali, with Elo of 1644, and Nguyen Thi Thanh An, with Elo of 2239, defeated Wadima Humaid Alkalbani, with Elo of 1629.

Vietnam retained their lead in the women’s category after winning four matches. China and India were the runners-up with three wins and one draw each.

In the men’s side, Vietnam tied with Mongolia 2-2. This result made the team fall to eighth place. China topped the group.

Nguyen Ngoc Trường Sơn, with Elo of 2649, drew with Gundavaa Bayarsaikhan, with Elo of 2517. Nguyen Huynh Minh Huy, with Elo of 2455, tied with Batchuluun Tsegmed, with Elo of 2460. Dao Thien Hai, with Elo of 2481, drew with Munkhgal Gombosuren, with Elo of 2419, and Nguyen Anh Khoi, with Elo of 2412, tied with Bilguun Sumiya, with Elo of 2363.

The tournament, which ends on April 5, has been organised by the UAE Chess Federation under the auspices of the UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Asian Chess Federation.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day
