Hanoi (VNA) - A speech-to-text software application with accuracy of up to 93.6 percent was honoured on November 15 as the winner of the Vietnamese Talent Awards 2019 IT category.
Origin-STT is able to recognise differentVietnamese accents and about 7,000 Vietnamese words so that users no longer haveto listen to audio files and type the text.
The secondprize went to a security solution for surveillancecameras designed by the Institute of Information Technology andCommunications at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and GoStudiodesigned by GoStream in the field of TV broadcasting.
The winner of the science and technologycategory was an invention to upgrade armoured combat vehicle toact as ambulances for peacekeeping missions designed by Dr Tran Huu Ly from the Military Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Ministry ofNational Defence.
The application of endoscopy incardiovascular disease treatment at Hospital E’s CardiovascularCentre and the application of endoscopy in treating abdominal diseases atthe Vietnam-Germany Hospital were awarded winners in the health category.
Professor Dang Kim Chi, chairwoman of the Scientific Council at the VietnamAssociation for Conservation of Nature and Environment won the environmentcategory for her research into the environment in traditionalhandicraft villages.
Themed “The Power of DigitalTransformation”, the Vietnamese Talent Awards 2019, the biggest annual ITawards, celebrated its 15th anniversary this year.
It welcomed 418 entries, an increase of 30percent from last year.
The number of products this yearwas the highest since the awards were launched in 2004. Some productswere sent from Germany, Canada, the US and Switzerland, according tothe organisers.
Over the past 15 years, the awards havebeen expanded and attracted the participation of local and foreign ITengineers.
In the final round, 19 products featuringtechnologies in digital information, IT and start-ups made the cut.
For the first time this year,the innovative start-up category was included. The competition alsoaccepted incomplete products from those who wished to develop their ideasand seek markets, offering chances for start-ups which were unable to finalisetheir products.
The Vietnamese Talent Awards, first heldin 2005, is co-organised by the Vietnam Study Promotion Association, Dan Tri (Intellectual)newspaper and the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT)./.
