Hanoi (VNA) - Nguyen Thi Anh Vien won a gold medal at the Pro SwimSeries Mesa tournament in Arizona, United States, on April 12.
The Vietnamese won in the women’s 400m individual medley (IM) with a time of4:44.68.
Connie Dean of England came second clocking 4:46.63, while Ilektra Lebl fromGreece was third with 4:49.68.
Vien will further compete in the 200m IM, 100m backstroke and 200m butterflyevents.
Vien is Vietnam’s hope of a medal in the upcoming Asian Games in Indonesia. Sheexpects to win a gold and is sharpening her skills by practising in the UnitedStates.
In the last Asian Games, Vien brought home two bronze medals in 200m backstrokeand 400m IM.
Pro Swim Series is an American swimming competition. The winner in eachcategory will receive five points for his/her world ranking and a bonus of 1,000USD.-VNA
