Hanoi (VNA) - SingerNguyen The Viet was awarded the golden trophy at the Asia Pacific Arts Festival2018 for an emotional performance of his song, YouRaise Me Up.
The festival concluded in KualaLumpur, Malaysia, on January 29.
The Asia Pacific Arts Festivalaims to foster harmony, peace and global friendship through diversifiedcultural exchanges and performing arts competitions. The festival has been heldsuccessfully for the past five years, with participants from the Asia Pacificregion, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea,Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia and Brunei, amongothers.
This year’s event saw the participationof nearly 200 contestants who competed in different forms - instrumental, vocaland dance - and different categories - solo, duet, trio & quartet, smalland large groups.
According to Viet’s vocallecturer, singer NguyenVu, it took Viet four months to practise the song. “Werarely took a day off in the last two months before the festival,” he told vnexpress.net.
Viet said the performance of You Raise Me Up demanded profoundexpressions and vocal techniques to deliver the subtle and truthful emotionsconveyed through the song.
The 22-year-old singer is thesophomore of Vietnam National Academy of Music’s Vocal Faculty. He is planningto launch his first musical production in March now that he has received the goldenprize.-VNA
