Paris (VNA) – French cinephiles have been wowedby Vietnamese movie “Inside the yellow cocoon shell” by Vietnamese director PhamThien An who won the Caméra d'Or (Golden Camera) at the 76th Cannes FilmFestival in May 2023.
The movie tells a story about Thien who, after hissister-in-law dies in a freak motorcycle accident in Ho Chi Minh City, is tasked to bring her remains to their countryside hometown for her funeral and take care of his 5-year-old nephew Dao who miraculously survived the crash.
Amidst the mystical landscapes of rural areas in Vietnam, Thienbegins a search for his elder brother who vanished years ago to hand Dao overto him - a journey which deeply questions his faith.
According to the audiences, An's supremely accomplished first feature may seem narratively slender forits three-hour runtime, but its layered abundance of sensory detail casts anunshakable spell.
The movie is being screenedin several cinemas in France such as MK2 Beaubourg, Reflet Medicis, Le Méliès,Forum des Images and Luxor./.
