Vietnamese horror film wins five prizes at Vegas Movie Awards

A Vietnamese thriller named "Nguoi lang nghe: Loi thi tham", (Listeners-The Whispering), has won five prizes at the Vegas Movie Awards, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) reported.

Hanoi (VNA) - A Vietnamese thriller named "Nguoi lang nghe: Loithi tham", (Listeners-The Whispering), has won five prizes at the VegasMovie Awards, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) reported.

The local film bagged several awards, including for Best Horror, Best 1st TimeDirector, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenwriter.

The Vegas Movie Awards represents a prestigious bimonthly competition andannual online Film Festival for filmmakers worldwide.

The Vietnamese film was directed by Khoa Nguyen, with filming initiallystarting back in July 2020. Although the movie was originally planned to debutin March of this year, it was later postponed due to the impact of the COVID-19pandemic and has so far not yet been screened in any local cinemas.

The plot of the film revolves around the main character An Nhien, played byOanh Kieu, who is a young writer. After reading a novel called “Listener”, sheis repeatedly attacked by a "ghost", causing her mental anguish. Thecharacter later overcame her obsession by drawing strange shapes, therebygradually revealing her hidden past.

Earlier this month, the movie won three awards at Asia Film Art InternationalFilm Festival (AFAIFF), including for Best Actress, while two extra prizes(Special Mentions) were given to the film and actor Quang Su.

The movie was also crowned best feature film with a budget under 250,000 USD atthe International New York Film Festival 2021./.

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange
