Nearly 600 guests, mainly the Vietnamese community living in Germany, attended the film premiere.
Adapted from the novel "Quyen" by Nguyen Van Tho and directed byNguyen Phan Quang Binh, the film tells the story of Quyen, a woman fromHanoi, and her husband, who fled from Russia to Germany in search of thepromised lands.
During their decade-long adventure,the couple experience a series of disappointments and separations, yetdemonstrate their burning desire and iron will to survive in a foreigncountry.
The film also reflects the harsh living conditions for Vietnamese expatriates in the 1990s.
Director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh told reporters from the Vietnam NewsAgency that he was determined to produce a film version after readingthe novel and hearing stories about life for the Vietnamese at the timeof the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The topic is very rich and has ample opportunities for other directors to explore, he said.
The 22 billion VND (1.02 million USD) film will make its debut inHanoi and Ho Chi Minh City , and hits cinemas across Vietnam onJune 19.
Also on June 19, the Vietnamese ConsulateGeneral in Germany’s financial centre Frankfurt is screening the film aspart of a series of activities that mark the 40th anniversary ofGermany-Vietnam diplomatic ties.-VNA
