Vietnamese athletes compete in Asian three-cushion billiards contest

Eleven Vietnamese athletes are competing at the seventh Asian three-cushion billiards championship, which kicked off in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, on January 20, according to the Vietnam Administration of Sports and Physical Training.

The tournament, which also serves as a qualification tournament for the2015 Three-Cushion World Cup slated to take place in Ho Chi Minh City,Vietnam, later this year, attracted 32 athletes from Japan, the RoK andVietnam.

The draw saw six Vietnamese playersfacing each other in three matches in the first round, thus ensuringthree of them will go on to the next stage.

In other first-round matches, the remaining five Vietnamese players are pitted against Japanese and Korean rivals.

Last year, when the competition was held in HCM City, the host country managed to win only two bronzes.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
