Vinh Long (VNA) – Vietnam tops the 3rd Vinh Long International Table Tennis,which wrapped up on July 1 in the southern province of Vinh Long, with threegold medals in the events of men’s doubles, women’s doubles and men’s singles.
The Vietnamesenational men’s and women’s teams, respectively, championed the men’s double andthe women’s double events, followed by Shanghai (China) who came second at bothevents.
Indonesia grabbeda bronze at the men’s doubles while Hai Duong, a provincial team from Vietnam,ranked third at the women’s doubles.
Nguyen TrungKien of the Vietnamese national team took the trophy in the men’s single eventwhile Ni Zheqing from Shanghai (China) won the women’s singles.
The Vinh LongInternational Table Tennis Tournament opened on June 29, bringing together 138players from four China’s Shanghai, Indonesia, Thailand and the host Vietnam.
The three-day tournamentwas co-organised by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourismand provincial Vinh Long Table Tennis Federation. It was the third year in arow the province has hosted the tournament, according to Vice Chairman of theprovincial People’s Committee Lu Quang Ngoi.
The event is a warm-upfor the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Indonesia in August.-VNA
