Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam wrapped up the Asian Youth Chess Championships with seven gold, five silver and seven bronze medals.
In the last day of standard chess competition on April 14 the young masters secured two gold and one bronze.
Nguyen Thanh Thuy Tien triumphed in the U18 Girls category, with seven points after nine matches.
Thuy was the only Vietnamese who wasn’t defeated at the 12-day tournament in Mongolia.
Earlier, her junior teammate Ton Nu Quynh Duong, who was not a seed in U8 Girls, took her title with 7.5 points.
Tran Minh Thang was the only Vietnamese boy finishing in the top three. He grabbed a bronze medal in the U16 class.
Vietnam took home other metals in the blitz and rapid chess events.-VNA
