Vietnam U19s will meet Thailand in the final match of the 2015 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U19 Youth Championship after defeating hosts Laos 4-0 in their semi-final on September 2.
Ha Duc Chinh scored a hat-trick while Ho Minh Di also got his name on the scoresheet.
Vietnam started the match confidently after convincing friendly wins in Hanoi, and Di wasted no time by opening the scoring for the visitors in the second minute.
Laos responded to the early setback, roared on by their fans, and created several chances that goalkeeper Nguyen Thanh Tuan had to be alert to.
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan urged his players to push forward after the break, and in the 51st minute, Chinh doubled the lead for Vietnam, before completing his hat-trick in the 58th and 83rd minutes.
In the other semi-final on September 2, Thailand defeated Malaysia 5-0 with an impressive attacking display, but it took them until the 36th minute to break the deadlock through Ritthidet Phensawat.
The lead was doubled six minutes later by Worachit Kanitsribumphen, and Phensawat added a third during first half added time.
Malaysia came out looking to close the deficit in the second half, but it left them exposed at the back, and Thailand punished them with two more goals.
Vietnam will face Thailand in the final on September 4.
The tournament is in its 12th year and is being hosted in Laos for the first time after original hosts Indonesia were suspended by FIFA in May.
All 12 members of the AFF were set to take part in the tournament, but with Indonesia's suspension, the AFF reverted to one group of six and one group of five teams.
Vietnam were runners-up at the event in both 2013 and 2014.-VNA
