Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam will play a friendlymatch against Syria on June 20 at northern Nam Dinh province's Thien TruongStadium for FIFA Days, Vietnam Football Federation announced in a pressconference on June 19.
It’s the second match of this kind of the nationalfootball team under coach Philippe Troussier. Earlier, the team won 1-0 in afriendly against Hong Kong (China).
Speaking at the conference, Syria’s coach Hector Cuperspoke highly of their opponent in the upcoming game, adding that Vietnamesefootball has significantly progressed over the past years and the team has been on a right track to the future.
For his part, Philippe Troussier revealed that he hascalled six more players to join the national team.
Syria is ranked 90th in the world rankings, five places aboveVietnam.
Vietnam has played Syria threetimes since 2009. The team won one, drew one and lost one. In their latest encounter in 2016, Vietnam won 2-0./.
