The unanimity was reached at the Southeast Asia Regional Anti-DopingOrganisation (SEA RADO) Executive Committee’s annual meeting inHanoi on February 25, with the participation of representatives fromthe World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and regional anti-dopingorganisations.
In opening the event, Deputy Director General ofthe General Department of Sports and Physical Training Lam QuangThanh reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to abiding by global anti- doping rules against doping in sport in all its forms.Vietnam became a WADA member in 2004.
Thanh, who is alsoVice President of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, said the countryestablished a National Centre for Anti-Doping & Sports Medicine in2012, with a view to preventing and controlling the use of bannedperformance-enhancing drugs.
Delegates at the event learnt fromthe experience in conducting anti-doping activities of nations in theregion last year including those at the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar.They also discussed the draft 2015 World Anti-Doping Code.
They are timetabled to take part in a refresher course on managing the results of doping tests on February 26 and 27.-VNA
