Vietnam crushed Laos 13-1 in the first Group B match at the ASEAN Football Federation Futsal Championship in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 8.
Only three minutes after the referee blew the starting whistle, Le Quoc Nam lit up the scoreboard for Vietnam.
Vietnam completely dominated the game but for an early mistake by the defensive line-up, which helped Laos level the score 1-1 in the seventh minute.
The remaining time quickly became a nightmare for the Laos team. A minute later, Vietnam's Mai Thanh Dat took back the lead. The goals continued in quick succession, from the ninth to 11th minute.
Tran Long Vu, Phung Trong Luan, Nguyen Minh Tri and Nguyen Bao Luan earned themselves goals. Ngo Ngoc Son and Danh Phat joined the feast, scoring two more goals.
After the break, Vietnam continued the merciless attack. Five more goals were tallied thanks to Tran Van Vu, Dat, Trong Luan, Vu and Duong Anh Tung.
With egos inflated, the Vietnam team will face Myanmar on October 10.
They will then face the rest of Group B, Australia and the Philippines, before hopefully advancing to the quarter-finals.
The top four teams at the championship will qualify for the 2016 Asian Football Confederation Futsal Champion-ship's final round in Uzbekistan next year.
Reigning champions, Thailand and Australia, are expected to claim two of the four slots.-VNA
