Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnam Mountain Bike Marathon, the country’s toughest mountain bike stage race, is scheduled to kick off on November 4-6 in Sa Pa in northern mountainous Lao Cai province.
With a backdrop of the highest peaks in Indochina, cyclists will have a chance to test their skills on all types of routes -- from simpler single track and easier descents to killer climbs.
The race, which is hosted by Topas Ecolodge, consists of three days of extremely varied mountain biking across three of the most remote and beautiful areas of Sa Pa.
Stage one (55km with 1,450m gain) takes place in the beautiful and rarely visited Muong Hum area, north of Sa Pa. Stage two (68km with 1,600m gain) traverses across the Thanh Phu area to the south. Stage three (30km with 750 gain) caps the race with a shorter sprint ending in Sa Pa town itself.
