Hanoi, (VNA) – Vietnam’s U17 football team lost to Myanmar 0-1 inthe first match of the Jenesys 2018 international tournament held in Japanon October 5.
The Vietnamese side dominated thegame but they missed many chances during the game at J-Village, Fukushimaprefecture.
Next up, the team will play Cambodiaon October 6, followed by Japan on October 7.
The Jenesys event for U17 teams hasattracted eight teams divided into two groups. Vietnam are in Group B withMyanmar, Cambodia and the hosts Japan. Group A consists of Thailand, Laos,Japan’s Shoshi and Japan’s Bellmare.
The event is a youth sport exchangeprogramme with the aim of promoting mutual understandingbetween Japan and Asian-Pacific countries. The programme alsoprovides a good chance for young players to gain experience in preparation forkey upcoming tournaments.
The tournament, which will end onOctober 10, will be a warm up for Vietnam ahead of the 2019 AFF U18 YouthChampionship and the 2020 AFC U19 Championship qualification. -VNA
