Hanoi (VNA) – Despite scoring first, Vietnam lost 1-3 to the hosts Oman in amatch held on October 12 during the final round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Asianqualifiers.
Forward Nguyen Tien Linh gave Vietnam the lead in the 39thminute, following an attempt by defender Ho Tan Tai. The goal was allowed aftervideo assistant referee (VAR) check.
However, Issam Al Sabhi equalised for Oman shortly beforehalf time.
Oman scored two others in the second half, with one of them beinga penalty goal in the 63rd minute.
Vietnam have yet to collect any points after four matchesand are at the bottom of Group B of the final qualifying round, which they playedfor the first time ever.
