Hanoi (VNA) – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has granted the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) the AFC Dream Asia Award and the AFC President Recognition Award for Grassroots Football.
The VFF said on November 30 that the AFC Dream Asia Award recognises the federation’s good organisation of national youth football tournaments, improvement of play procedures, and creation of opportunities for young players to sharpen their skills in 2015.
Youth tourneys held by the VFF have also run smoothly and been planned in line with AFC and International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) championships.
The Japan Football Association and the Chinese Football Association also received the Dream Asia Award, the VFF noted.
Meanwhile, the AFC President Recognition Award for Grassroots Football is to honour the success of the “Football for All in Vietnam” project, implemented by the VFF in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training and the Football Association of Norway.
The VFF said the award energises their efforts to continue expanding community-based football groups, thus bringing joy and an interesting sport to children and teenagers nationwide.
The project also won the 2014 AFC Dream Asia Gold Award in October this year.-VNA
