Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Embassyin the Republic of Korea has promptly carried out citizen protection measuresconcerning the recent murder of a Vietnamese citizen in the country, statedForeign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang on June 29.
Responding to reporters’ question at aregular press conference in Hanoi on the murder, the spokesperson saidaccording to the embassy, the victim is Bui Cat Ha, who was murdered by herfarther-in-law in Seoul’s Seongbuk District. The man has been arrested by localpolice.
The Vietnam Embassy has supported Ha’sfamily and issued a death certificate for the victim and a permit for her ashesto enter Vietnam, Hang added.
She noted that under the direction from theVietnam Foreign Ministry, the embassy is closely following developments of thecase to ensure justice is served and legal rights and interest of theVietnamese citizen are protected.
Mentioning the trial of Nguyen Ngoc NhuQuynh (known as blogger Me Nam), who was charged with conducting anti-Statepropaganda under Clause 1 of Article 88 of the Penal Code, the spokespersonemphasized that just like in other countries, in Vietnam all law violations arestrictly handled in line with the law.

“The investigation of Nguyen Ngoc NhuQuynh’s case has completed and now the trial is underway. The trial is carriedout publicly in accordance with Vietnamese law. The court is yet to deliver itsverdicts,” said Hang.
On the occasion of the regular pressconference, the spokesperson announced a number of upcoming diplomatic activities.-VNA
