Hanoi (VNA) –Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang on June 15 provided the latestinformation about Vietnamese citizens in Qatar, where political tension remains,noting that their situation is stable.
At the ministry’s regular press conference, Hangsaid the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar has regularly updated relevantdevelopments in the country and assured that the situation of Vietnamese thereis stable and hasn’t had any major changes.
The embassy is keeping close contact withcompanies sending Vietnamese workers to Qatar and the workers’ liaison board inthe country to update the situation of Qatar to the Vietnamese community there.It has also advised the citizens to work and live as normal and asked them tomaintain communication with the embassy to receive timely assistance whenneeded.
The Foreign Ministry is also coordinatingclosely with domestic agencies to provide citizen protection measures when necessary,the spokesperson said.
Regarding the trial of Doan Thi Huong, a suspectin the death of a Democratic People’s Republic of Korean citizen, and thepreparation for her fourth trial, Hang quoted the Vietnamese Embassy inMalaysia as saying that Huong is in stable physical and spiritual condition.
She added the Foreign Ministry is workingclosely with domestic relevant agencies, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia,the Vietnam Bar Federation, and Malaysian lawyers to protect Huong’s interestsas good as possible.
In the case of Pham Minh Hoang who was strippedoff the Vietnamese nationality, Hang said Pham Minh Hoang violated law andnational security. The stripping of nationality was made in line withregulations of Vietnamese law. Authorised agencies of Vietnam notified Hoangand the French Embassy in Hanoi of this issue.-VNA
