Vietnam requests RoK not to make statement hurting Vietnamese sentiment

Vietnam has requested the Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK) not to take any action and make any statement hurting the Vietnamese people’s sentiment and undermining friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has requested theGovernment of the Republic of Korea (RoK) not to take any action and make anystatement hurting the Vietnamese people’s  sentiment and undermining friendly andcooperative relations between the two countries.

Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hangmade the statement on June 12 in response to reporters’ queries on Vietnam’sviewpoint on a speech of RoK President Moon Jae-in on June 6 honouring Korean “contributors”joining battlefields in foreign countries, including Vietnam.

“Regarding this issue, on June 9, 2017, arepresentative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seriously talked with arepresentative of the Republic of Korean Embassy in Vietnam,” Hang said.

“Vietnam wants to develop friendly relationswith all nations, including the Republic of Korea. Leaders of the two countriesreached common perceptions in putting the past aside and looking towards thefuture,” she said.

“We requested the Government of the Republic ofKorea not to take any action and make any statement that hurt the Vietnamesepeople’s sentiment and have negative impacts on the friendship and cooperation betweenthe two countries,” the spokeswoman stressed.-VNA
