Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s football team drew 1-1 with India in a friendly match at Thien Truong Stadium in the northern province of Nam Dinh on October 12.
Although the host team created numerous scoring opportunities, they were unable to secure a victory.
The match began with Vietnam taking control as the players continuously pressed forward and dominated possession. Right from the opening minutes, Van Toan and Van Quyet created several opportunities, putting India's defense under intense pressure. After numerous efforts, Bui Vi Hao opened the scoring in the 38th minute with a sharp finish.
India responded strongly in the second half, leveling the score in the 48th minute when Farukh Choudhary capitalised on Vietnam's defensive lapses. Vietnam missed a golden opportunity to retake the lead when Que Ngoc Hai’s penalty was saved by India’s goalkeeper in the 60th minute.
Both teams had chances, but India’s solid defense held firm against Vietnam’s attacks. The result highlights the areas for improvement for Vietnam, particularly in finishing and defensive organisation, as they prepare for upcoming tournaments./.
