London (VNA) – Vietnam actively joined in discussions of the secondMeeting of the Asia-Europe Political Forum (AEPF) and the 30th Meeting of the InternationalConference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) Standing Committee, which tookplace on May 17-19 in London, the UK.
The Vietnamesedelegation was led by Vice Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Nguyen Manh Cuong.
Representatives frompolitical parties focused their discussions on the Asia-Europe partnership and therole of political parties in regional cooperation and connectivity.
Cooperation in low-cost clean energy development, reduction of climate changeimpacts, prevention of environmental degradation and disaster relief, alongwith major epidemics prevention were also on the agenda.
Participantsaffirmed the importance of political parties in building a solid and consensualpolitical foundation for countries’ cooperation, as well as the AEPF’s role increating mechanisms for discussing issues of mutual concerns and cooperationimprovement to bolster the two continents’ security and prosperity.
They stressed that political parties’ collaboration will contribute to solvingregional and global challenges, including those on security, development andclimate change.
The AEPF adopted the London Statement while the ICAPP Standing Committeeapproved an action plan for the ICAPP.-VNA
