VFF names new head coach

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) revealed that Toshiya Miura has been appointed the new manager of the national and Olympic football squads.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) revealed that Toshiya Miura hasbeen appointed the new manager of the national and Olympic footballsquads.

After a meeting lasting nearly 10 hours in Hanoi on May 8, Miura agreed to a two-year deal and will begin work soon.

Miura said Vietnamese football had great potential and he understood the love and indulgence for the game by local residents.

He said it was an honour as he was the first Japanese coach to take charge of Vietnam, describing it as a wonderful challenge.

Miura, who can speak English and German, said he would do his best to help the teams to the top at the coming AFF Suzuki Cup.

Bornin 1963 in Kamaishi in Iwate Prefecture, Miura started his career as acoach at the J.League's Vegalta Sendai in 1997 after he failed to makehis name as a player.

He then took charge in different clubssuch as Mito HollyHock (1998), Omiya Ardija (2000-01, 2004-06),Consadole Sapporo (2007-08), Vissel Kobe (2009-10), and Ventforet Kofu(2010-11).

In his 11-year career, Miura competed more than 100 matches and was classed as a dynamic and enthusiastic coach.

The new coach will be introduced to the public on May 10 in Ho Chi Minh City.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

More than 70,000 women from across the capital city of Hanoi dressed up in Ao dai (traditional long dress) and participated in a folk dance ensemble on October 20 to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi and the 94th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union.

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
