Lam made 16 saves in five matches as Vietnammade a fairytale run into the quarterfinals, with a good share of those savescoming against Japan in the quarterfinal.
Though Vietnam was defeated 0-1, Lam’s effortsearned him the man of the match award.
Ignatiy Nesterov from Uzbekistan topped the listwith 21 saves in four matches, followed by Amer Shafi from Jordan with 20 savesin four matches.
Michael Falkesgaard from the Philippines and MamedOrazmuhamedov of Turkmenistan were tied for fourth with 14 saves after three matcheseach.
TheRussian-born Lam signed an agreement to move to Thai League giants MuangthongUnited shortly before the start of the tournament and showed he belongs to ahigher level at Asia’s biggest football competition, according to the website.
