Two exhibitions highlight landscapes of Italy, Vietnam

The Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City on May 20 launched two photo exhibitions on the landscapes of Italy and Vietnam at the HCM City Fine Arts Museum.

HCMCity (VNS/VNA) - The Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City on May20 launched two photo exhibitions on the landscapes of Italy and Vietnamat the HCM City Fine Arts Museum.

The first exhibition “Italian Routes - Mountains, Mountaineering, ClimateChange” was launched by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs andInternational Cooperation. It features works by photographer FabianoVentura.

The work will head to COP26 co-chaired by the UK and Italy at the endof 2021 in Glasgow, and will be promoted by Italian embassies and consulates aroundthe world.

HCM City and Hanoi were chosen as the first destinations.

The showcase consists of three sections: General Introduction, ItalianMountains, and A Look at the World, featuring 20 landscape images, and 30other photos.

The highlight of the exhibition is Montagne Italiane (Italian Mountains), anideal journey to explore the entire Alpine arc from west to east, starting fromthe Gran Paradiso.

Nine mountains on the journey are also featured to reflect the evolutionof the glacial masses, underlining the effects of climate change on themountain landscape.

In addition, two video recordings of the expedition Onthe Trails of the Glaciers - Alps 2020 are presented at the event.

The exhibition is based on the project On the Trails of the Glaciers promotedand organised by the non-profit association Macromicro.

It combines photographic comparison and scientific research to show the effectsof climate change through the observation of glacier mass variations over 150years.

Photographer Ventura, specialising in environmental issue, has been involved inthe project as its creator and director since 2007.

With a team of researchers, photographers and filmmakers, he has beendocumenting the phenomenon of the retreat of the world's largest glaciers anddisseminating the results of his work through exhibitions, conferences,educational programmes, installations and documentaries.

The other exhibition “Landscapes of Vietnam - Ecological Diversity, NewClimate Pattern, New Discovery” showcases 15 works on Vietnamese caves andmountains taken by Vietnamese photographers Hoang The Nhiem, Hoang Giang Haiand Tran Dang Dang Khoa.

Nhiem introduces five photos of the Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark inthe northern province of Ha Giang taken from 2008-2012, while Hai has photos featuringsnow on Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range in 2016.

Khoa presents works on Son Doong Cave, the world’s largest cave, in thecentral province of Quang Binh.
Theexhibitions will be open until June 12 at 97A Pho Duc Chinh street in District1.

The events will strictly comply with Covid-19 prevention measures, and allattendees are requested to wear a face mask and disinfect their handswith soap and sanitizer./.

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.
