A lantern parade, along with attractive artperformances and fashion shows entertained tens of thousands of visitors to thefestival, which was held annually on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
In her opening remarks, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, applaudedachievements Tuyen Quang has recorded in child care and education over the pasttime.
She also praised the initiative to organise the Tuyen Quang City Festival whichcaptures special cultural identities of Tuyen Quang province, describing thisas a cultural and social event, and a tourism product contributing to promotingthe land, people and cultural values of the locality to domestic and foreigntourists.
The Vice President asked the provincial PartyCommittee, authorities and people to continue disseminating revolutionarytraditions, mobilise all resources to serve socio-economic development, andnational defence and security, and build a strong political system.
Tuyen Quang should pay more attention to educationamong youths and care for the poor, especially those in remote anddisadvantaged area, she said.
On this occasion, the Vice President presented 300million VND (13,200 USD) and 100 bikes to 100 children in difficultcircumstances.
The festival will last until October 4.
Tuyen Quang has more than 300 places of interest,including the nationally important sites of Tan Trao, Kim Binh, Kim Quan, andLang Ngoi – Da Ban.
Steeped in revolutionary history and diverseethnic culture, Tuyen Quang is celebrated as a place of cultural exchange forethnic minorities in the North, and is featured in traditional festivals,legends and folksongs.-VNA
