Top Ironman triathletes to race in Da Nang in May

Nearly 2,200 triathletes, including 40 professionals, from 50 countries and territories will be competing in the 5th Techcombank Ironman 70.3 Vietnam – Asia Pacific Championship on May 9 – 12.

Da Nang (VNA) – Nearly 2,200 triathletes,including 40 professionals, from 50 countries and territories will be competingin the 5th Techcombank Ironman 70.3 Vietnam – Asia Pacific Championship on May9 – 12.

Athletes will race in individual and relay team events inthe endurance event consisting of a 1.9km swim, 90km bike ride, and 21km run onthe coastal track along My Khe beach, with total prize money of 75,000 USD upfor grabs.

There will be 50 qualifying slots available for topindividual finishers in their age groups for the Ironman 70.3 WorldChampionship in Nice, France on September 7 and 8.

The organising board will host a 5km run to raise funds tohelp reduce infant mortality in Vietnam, and Iron Kids for children in agegroups of 5 – 10 and 11 – 14.

Newcomers and amateurs will race the Sunrise Sprint with a750m swim, 20km bike ride, and 5km run. 

According to the event’s organising board, multi-timeIronman World Champions Patrick Lange and Craig Alexander in the men’s divisionand former Ironman 70.3 World Champion Holly Lawrence and defending Ironman70.3 Vietnam champion Radka Kahlefeldt on the women’s side will race nextmonth.

Da Nang has hosted ironman races since 2015. Last year, morethan 1,600 people from 56 countries and territories, including 600 fromVietnam, raced in the Techcombank Ironman 70.3 Vietnam, which has helped raisemore than 50,000 USD to support the charity Newborns Vietnam.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

More than 70,000 women from across the capital city of Hanoi dressed up in Ao dai (traditional long dress) and participated in a folk dance ensemble on October 20 to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi and the 94th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union.

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
