Hoa Binh (VNA) - Thousands oflocals, visitors and Buddhism dignitaries and followers flocked to the openingceremony of the Tien Pagoda Festival in Lac Thuy district in the northernprovince of Hoa Binh on February 8.
This is the first festival held in the province on the occasion of the LunarNew Year (Tet) festival.
The complex of Tien pagoda and caves was recognised as national tourism site in2011. It is place for spiritual, cultural and eco-tourism.
Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism LuuHuy Linh said in accordance with the tourism development plan for Hoa Binhprovince in the 2020-2030 period, the Tien pagoda will serve spiritual andeco-tourism activities.
The province is calling for more investment to improve the quality of tourismsites and develop tourism products, he noted.
The same day, the Phat Tich festival opened at Phat Tich pagoda in Tien Du district,Bac Ninh province, attracting crowds of localpeople and tourists.
Theevent, which falls on the fourth and fifth days ofthe first month in the lunar year, includes ritual activities to prayfor peace and happiness, and art and traditional game performances, and sports activities.
It aims to contribute to preserving culturalvalues of the locality, and prompting emulation movements in the localcommunity.
Previously, on February 7, the Khen Hoa andCong troi (heaven gate) opening festivals kicked off at Sun World FansipanLegend tourism site in Sa Pa district of the northern mountainous province ofLao Cai.
This is the third time the festivals have been held at the site, featuring specificart performance and cultural activities from ethnic minority groups in thenorthwest region.
Visitors to the events are offered a chanceto join spiritual tourism activities in Fansipan peak which is considered asthe “Roof of Indochina”.
The festivals will last until March 8./.
