ThaiBinh (VNA) – The Dong Bang temple festival in An Le commune, QuynhPhu district, the northern province of Thai Binh kicked off on October 9 and itsorganizers received a certificate recognising the festival as a nationalintangible cultural heritage.
DongBang Temple was built during the reign of Due Vuong (the 18th Hung King) toworship the father king Bat Hai Dong Dinh, who succeeded in protecting thekingdom’s peace and sovereignty.
Thetemple festival is held annually from the 20th to 26th ofthe eighth lunar month (October 9-15) to worship naiads and national heroes,including Tran Hung Dao and Pham Ngu Lao.
Speakingat the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi BichLien asked Thai Binh province to complete a plan to preserve and promote theheritage value, and strengthen security to ensure safety for locals andvisitors during the festival. - VNA
